These days are marked with restlessness.
This past weekend was fun, though. I dropped Jack off Sat morning to get cut (he looks like a little deer, it's so goddamn cute) and went back to my place to clean up a little. We were originally going to go to Houma on Sunday, but as Brad had to work in the afternoon, we changed it to Sat. Scott got off early, I went to go get Jack, waited on Lacey, then drove out to Houma. Brad and Liz had already gone out there so that Brad could show her all of our old haunts. We went to 2nd & Charles, where I bought two Star Wars books. Went to eat at Texas Roadhouse, which was a lot of fun, then Scott, Lacey and I went to the Southland Mall because FYE had opened up. I bought some extra dark chocolate Pocky which was delicious as fuck, then we went over to Spencers, where Lacey got stalked by some creepoid (who ended up getting escorted out of the store because of said creepiness) and I wanted the Shut Up Karen shirt but they didn't have my size. We left and came alllll the way back to Metairie and met Brad and Liz at Total Wine, which is now officially the best store ever. It's like Disneyworld for people with impulse control issues. I got some PBJ moonshine and got Sid some pickle moonshine (don't ask) and then we went back to my place after getting Lacey some Canes. Scott went over to Brad & Liz's because he was going to be on their show, and Lacey and I packed up our liquor and went over there too. We tried to watch some of the Mandelorian but it was a little distracting with the show going on, so we just chilled and provided off camera commentary. Lacey got sleepy and went back to my apartment to pass out, I followed her shortly after.
Sunday I went on a little adventure and went all the way down to NOLA to try Lucas Eats. Since Beignet Fest was cancelled they decided they would compromise by having people drive to the different locations, which is better than nothing but kind of a pain in the dick when you consider most of it's in NOLA and it's not easy to park. Fortunately, Lucas Eats, who makes the oreo beignets, was easy to find and had easy parking. I got a Cuban to eat too, though Katie's is definitely better. The Oreo beignets were yummy but I really hate that Beignet Fest was cancelled this year-I had been looking forward to some of those cochon de lait and monte cristo ones again. Ren Fest & Oddities were cancelled too, and I'm definitely not counting on Comic Con this year. Fucking COVID.
I wish we had a 2nd & Charles out here, and an FYE. How the hell does little podunk ass Houma get two bomb ass stores like that?
I accidentally fucked up one of the coils on my stove, but I had Go365 bucks so I ordered a new one, which I hope comes soon.
Tubing was supposed to happen this weekend but I wouldn't have been able to go anyway-it was accidentally scheduled on an off payweek and things are tight as is.
Lately when I go out at night to walk Jack, I keep on having this feeling as if my life is closing in all around me, like it's shrinking in the dark. It makes me feel lost and scared, especially with the way work is going. Sooner or later I'm going to have to make some changes-I don't think I will stay at Sunlake after this lease ends. Of course, something's gotta happen in the $$ department for that to happen and something's telling me not to make any sudden moves as of yet. Anything can happen. Something needs to happen. I survived the first year and I'm tired of struggling, tired of being in limbo, tired of settling for less.
But all I can do is keep my head down and my mouth shut.
Didn't get to do my oil change, must do next check. Scott changed my cabin air filter. Need car wash. Need to save money carefully because something tells me it's going to be an active August, hurricane wise. Then I need to get a move on Christmas before it's November and my ass is up against a wall.
