Weee, new font.

Well, here I am, post tubing, alive but pretty g-damned crispy. I think my dumb ass has finally learned a lesson. From now on, sunscreen. It's not worth hobbling around for the next few days and having to take cold baths.

So, tubing-

Had a bit of a kerfuffle last week, since the tubing companies were closed due to high water. A few heated discussions later and we decided to go to Sandy Bottoms, in Franklinton. I was a bit nervous since we were going to have to leave much earlier then we usually do (and my friends are not earlybirds at all) but to my surprise, we were all on the road. Holly even caught up to me on the Causeway. Made it there in good time. It was in the middle of nowhere at the end of a damn dirt road. It was literally an open faced patio that made up their 'office' and the only bathroom was a portapotty that listed to the side and was literally caked with mud and leaves with flies everywhere. Not the best impression, initially. Lacey ended up getting lost due to her GPS so we hung out and waited on her, she wasn't in the best mood when she got there, which is understandable. We all got on the bus and took a pretty good long ride to the drop off point. They had the tubes with no backs on them (and not very many) but we acclimated and dragged them down to the river (much easier to get in the water then the Bogue Chitto drop-off) turned on the radio, and set out. We stopped at a lot of beaches and it was hot as dick but man, it was such an easier ride then the Bogue Chitto one. The beaches were nicer. The music was good, the company was fun, and once Lacey got a mood enhancer, she perked right up. Fucking Derek (D) had bottles of vodka with the slightest hint of Koolaid in them, so he was off to the fucking races by the time we got to the first beach. Scott's tube punctured half way out there, or had a slow leak. We made do. We made a 'Rivermas' tree in the middle of the river and had ourselves a good old time. It was hard to stick together, though. I found that the river was much wider then the other part that we're used to, and we weren't tying together, so we kept drifting off. By the end, Lacey was all the way in the front by herself, Holly and the gays were kinda together, Scott and I were tied together behind them, and Tyler and Zach were wayyy behind us. At that point we were fucking ready to get off. It seemed like we'd never find the cutoff point. We did eventually, but Sandy Bottoms has no showers, so we felt gross and had to change right in the parking lot. Lacey had evidently gotten herself tipped over and caught in a tree and had to be rescued by the boat, so she was not in the mood to go to 2nd & Charles or to go eat. Tyler left, too. Brittany and Derek (C) were going to meet us at 2nd & Charles in Covington, so we headed that way. By the time we got to 2nd & Charles we were feeling pretty icky and hungry. We usually go to Steak & Shake, but Scott wanted to introduce the group to Half Shell, so after Brittany and Derek got there and shopped around a bit and the others had looked around (it was their first time) we all got in our cars and went to Half Shell, which took us pretty damn quick considering it was a Saturday night. Lord, we got fucking food out the wazoo. Cosmos and blueberry margaritas and oysters and crab crakes and bisque and EVERYONE got the famous potatoes and by the time we were done we were all falling over ourselves. Everyone loved it, though. I got my usual, alfredo with fried shrimp with the cajun potatoes and the cheddar grits. By the time we staggered out of Half Shell, it was dark and my legs were burning like a house on fire. One of the hardest parts about tubing is making that drive across the Causeway in the dark, but we made it. I had to take Ibuprofen just to lay down and sleep. On Sunday we didn't do much but lay around and I had to do my pictures in bed. It rained like crazy, which was nice. I was not ready for the weekend to end.

Next up is Oddities, which I'm excited for. Hopefully my check is good enough (I'm working OT tonight and I worked two hours OT yesterday) to get me a little something. My goddamn disposal broke so hopefully they fix it tomorrow while I'm out. We're supposed to be having a TS or TD this weekend, which is awesome since I might be able to do some blog/photo work. I definitely need to recharge my battery.

I added Derek (C) to the HCC Chat in hopes of resurrecting it, it's been going okay. Added Tyler back, too. Hopefully now that COVID is pretty much over and we're all vaccinated for the most part, we can go and hang out a lot more. I am anxious to take some more pictures. I also found out that Iliza Schlesinger (one of my favorite comics) is coming here next year at the Orpheum, so I kinda want to get in on that. I'm so hungry for new experiences.

I have a therapist appointment coming up and I have things I need to talk to her about but I'm not sure if they're even relevant or if I should even bring them up but I guess that's the point of therapy, to find out if they really are or you're just making trouble for yourself.

I guess I'll go take Jack out.
