There are some days (wednesdays) I’ll start doing my end of day stuff
preparing my money to cash out, making sure my six o’clocks are scheduled, bringing in the plastic ‘crossing guard’ from outside And sometimes in the midst of doing these ingrained tasks I’ll reach over and pick up the phone and start (what are we doing tonight) dialing (what do you want to eat?) And before (Sure, I’ll meet you there) I get (See you soon) to the (Boy it’ll feel good to get home) second or last digit I hang up Shake my head It is what it is Turn off the tv Put my money in the safe Log off my computer Grab my bag Say goodbye to everyone Clock out Walk to my car and think (Closing time) Well, time to leave (you don’t have to go home) Instead of saying (But you can’t) ‘Hey, (Stay) I’m coming (here) home.’
